What is “COES”?

Welcome to the new Colorado Outdoor Educator Symposium website!

The dates are set for COES 2017!  It will be hosted by Fort Lewis College’s Adventure Education Department on April 7-9 2017.

The Association for Experiential Education (AEE) Rocky Mountain Regional Conference will be combining with COES this year to create a very unique professional development conference.

The theme for the conference this year is: Invite the conversation; Co-create the community.  This theme embraces the vision that, as educators, we strive to practice inclusion, social justice, evolving competency for ourselves and our organizations, and co-create intentional community through servant leadership.
We believe that the collaboration between AEE and COES truly walks the talk of co-creating the community.
Register for the conference here:
Can’t wait to see you in April!

COES stands for the Colorado Outdoor Educator Symposium. The goal of the symposium is to provide college students from around Colorado the opportunity to connect and network with each other while gaining a better understanding of the outdoor industry.

COES has three overall goals:

1. Students are the focus

2. Low costs

3. Students teach, learn, and network

We would like to give a huge thank you to Colorado College for starting COES two years ago and Colorado Mesa University and the Outdoor Program for continuing COES on their campus February 2015. Western State Colorado University hosted March 4-6th, 2016 and had an incredible turnout! Fort Lewis will be hosting COES in 2017.

We need your help though! We would love to hear about your ideas and suggestions to make this year’s symposium the best it can be. Check out the Contact Us page and share your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, photos, and whatever else might be on your mind regarding COES.
